D-Mag Disappointment

There's been speculation as to how exactly RAP4 managed to make such inexpensive magazines as the D-Mags, but now that all has been revealed it makes total sense. The magazines are configured around two individual feed stacks, and you have to flip the magazine horizontally after you expend one stack. I was really hoping the D-Mags would be a viable alternative to other magazines but I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in how they turned out. What are your thoughts?

New Pictures of TACAMO D-Mags

RAP4 has put up some new pictures of their D-MAGS on Facebook, check 'em out:

These magazines will need an adaptor to work with TACAMO kits and RAP4 markers. The model shown above looks significantly larger than the 10 round version previously shown, probably making them 15 or 20 round mags. More info as it comes in!

Operation End War 2

Grey Ops is huge on the promotion of limited ammo, and particularly mag-fed play, so it's great to see RAP4 continuing their End War game series with Operation End War II:

MK7P Tacamo Conversion Kit Review

It's impossible to ever be (completely) objective, you can go ahead and argue that with me, but I've already made up my mind about it and there's nothing you can do about it. That being said, there are certain things that always seem to evoke especially prejudiced or agenda laden opinions one way or another. The Tacamo conversion kit reviews I've seen thus far seem to be perfect poster children of such objects of subjectivity (that sentence makes my brain hurt). So, with that being kept in mind, here is my review of the Tacamo MK7P conversion kit (all other Tacamo kit reviews will be short addenda, as it's just not efficient to do entirely new reviews of each one, barring extreme unforeseen circumstances), with the goal of reviewing the conversion kit for what it is and does, not for what it represents and evokes feelings of from any party. That enough of a preface for you?

RAP4/Tacamo Magazine Kit Update

Several of you may have already heard this through unofficial sources, but it's now official via RAP4. I've previously stated that I think this is best course of action for RAP4, and I stand by that. The crucial part of moves like this is ensuring that you can deliver within a reasonable amount of time, and avoid multiple delay announcements *coughangeleyegogglescough*. The inclusion of easily-removed magazine adapters is a huge plus as well.

Tacamo MK5 Conversion Kit Testing Wrap-Up

There's one thing I'd like to clear up before I talk any more about the MK5 Evaluation Kit. Certain unnamed members of the paintball media pack took it upon themselves to "review" this kit in a very public and interesting manner. These kits are not review kits (which will come along later) and the fallout from them having been publicized as such has been significant. Sales have dropped significantly with one RAP4 dealer I've spoken to immediately following the "review(s)", and it's been a PR nightmare for RAP4. This was an excellent opportunity for paintball media members and prolific forum members to provide public (at RAP4's bequest) feedback and evaluation of pre-production products, and its something that hasn't really been seen in the paintball industry to this point. Hopefully RAP4 (and other manufacturers) won't be discouraged from this excellent means of testing in the future, because it really does benefit the consumer in the end. Short version: "Don't ruin it for the rest of us."

Tacamo Lives

Tacamo has made a return of sorts, with distribution of the well known AK-47 markers being handled by RAP4. The prices appear to have risen a fair amount, but this may be the price to pay for Tacamo sticking around. It wasn't too long ago that the Action Gear Canada rebranded Tacamos were selling new for dirt cheap, but I'm unable to find an FX for under $200.00 Canadian now.

If any of you are unfamiliar with the Tacamo line, here's a vid of Hitman Stan shooting a few rounds through one: (don't try and navigate to his website at the end, it's no longer operational)

Coincidentally, if anyone (in Canada) wants a good deal on a Tacamo marker, you should consider this: Tacamo Marker @ Canadian Paintball. It's not a static page though, and the markers are in short supply, so go quick or the deal will soon be gone.
